Kids Act LA Making Acting Accessible to anyone who has Drive and Ambition

Kids Act LA Acting School is the perfect forum to enhance and embrace children who have what it takes to become an actor/actress. The school has differing programs that allows the student both choice and flexibility when choosing the class to suit their requirements...

The Faculty is composed of film/TV/commercial and print industry professionals, who have been working in the industry and teaching acting for the past five to ten years. The two heads of Kids Act LA faculty, along with our teachers, (all working actors), have an extremely identifiable track record in the industry.

Kids Act LA teachers are actors: (a series regular on Sabrina the teen-age witch), producers and directors (plastic surgery shows, TV series, full length motion pictures, book trailers, etc… And they are casting directors, who have cast a huge amount of television shows and films. (Final Destination movies, motion pictures such as Zoom with Courtney Cox and Tim Allen and many more)

A typical starter program at the school will focus on building a foundation for acting using training techniques found in the Theatre and using them for screen acting.
The classes will introduce the student to finding out what kind of actor/actress they really are and what they feel they have within themselves and then nurturing that talent. At the same time the students will focus on their emotional, technical and physical abilities as these all an essential part of an actor’s "toolkit".

Once the students have an understanding of the core techniques needed to act, they then focus on applying these skills/techniques on camera exercises, screen shoots and scene work in an attempt to develop their acting abilities.
As an actor’s body is deemed as their only instrument, students will learn how to tune their body, so as to be able to perform expertly where and when needed. In addition, the student will be asked to focus on their ability to relax and be tense when needed. The course will also focus on breaking down the students inhibitions and building their confidence and spirit.

As many believe that acting benefits far better from working with a live audience - the students schedule all lead up to a performance in front of a live audience.

Actor Auditions - Steps You Can Take to Get More

Ever been upset or confused about how to get more auditions? Like many actors, you KNOW you could do the job if you just got in front of the casting director. So what can you do to get more chances at an audition? This article will give you ideas for identifying your ideal castability and then matching that with the right casting directors for your strengths as an actor. Here are 4 steps suggested by our professionals at KIDS ACT LA you can take toward going out for more roles. 1. Identify a reasonable, attainable next step for you in your career. If you have never Co-Starred on a network TV series, it is very unlikely that you will be cast in a Guest Star Role. If you've never auditioned for a TV series, you're not likely going to replace Katherine Heigl on "Grey's Anatomy." If you're trained, but you're new to television, your next step could be to have a line or two on a show. But if you've done 15 Co-Star Roles, then your next step could be for ...

Confidence and Becoming A Great Actor

No matter what medium we are playing in, no matter what we do: act, write, direct, produce, sing... each depends on our ability to communicate effectively with great belief in what we have to give. But the actor can't gain confidence by demanding others to praise or approve of them. The actor gains confidence by demonstrating to themselves that they are worthy of it. Confidence is something you can't "get," but it is something you can build. False confidence is copping an attitude that you are superior to others. This attitude is not pro-survival for the actor because you really need to be moldable to do your job. In acting, strength is realized by being flexible and open to any criticism and notes. Great acting requires welcoming feedback and trusting the collaborative process between you and the director. If you feel you must protect yourself, your focus will be in your ego, and you will be gauging how safe you are, instead of freely trusting the process. You ...

The Road to Performing Arts: Kids Act LA

It takes courage to pursue a career in the performing arts. These days, there are many ways a person can become involved in the performing arts. It just takes creativity and unlimited ambition to land your dream career in the performing arts. If you are still in college, then consider applying to the theatrical school or division of your college. Many large Universities host an entirely separate school devoted to the study of performing arts. While you may feel this type of education is a risky investment, in the end it pays to follow your heart. Pursue studies in a field that you will be passionate about in 5, 10, or even 20 years from your collegiate career. In addition, there are many opportunities open to undergraduates in a theatre program that are not open to people trying to make it in the "real world." Another idea to further a career in the performing arts is by joining online agencies. An online agency may allow you to upload a photograph, video, and biography...
